Penalties for Drug Use

Possession and Use:

Penalties: A fine ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 AED, or imprisonment for no less than 3 months.

Repeated Offenses: Penalties increase to a fine ranging from 30,000 to 100,000 AED, or imprisonment for no less than 6 months.

Penalties for Drug Use by Expatriates

Penalties: For the first offense, products are confiscated without imprisonment. For residents, penalties are applied similarly to citizens: imprisonment for up to 3 months, or a fine ranging between 20,000 and 100,000 AED.

Deportation: Residents are not automatically deported; the judge has the discretion to decide on deportation

Penalties for Possession of Drugs with Intent to Use

Penalties: A fine ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 AED, or imprisonment for up to 6 months

Repeated Offenses: Penalties increase to imprisonment for up to a year, or a fine ranging from 30,000 to 100,000 AED. For the third repetition, imprisonment ranges from 1 to 2 years, and a fine of no less than 200,000 AED.

Penalties for Drug Promotion

Encouraging Use: Imprisonment or a fine of no less than 50,000 AED

Manufacturing or Selling: A fine of no less than 50,000 AED.

Incitement to Use: Imprisonment for no less than 5 years, and a fine of no less than 50,000 AED.

Drug tucking into food: Imprisonment for up to 5 years, and a fine of no less than 20,000 AED.

Penalties for Drug Trafficking

Importing and Exporting Drugs: Life imprisonment or death penalty in some cases.

Legal Procedures

Arrest and Investigation: Suspects are arrested and thorough investigations are conducted.

Trial and Penalties: Cases are tried in criminal courts, and strict penalties are imposed upon conviction.

Appeal: Convicted individuals can appeal within a specified period.

    Conditions:

    Reporting to authorities with information before the crime occurs.
